Our Lea & Perrins TV Commercial

Our Lea & Perrins TV Commercial

“Lord, when I get a project, I hope there’s no other man involved. Or if there is, I hope it’ll be Kris.”

That was exactly what I was pondering on the day before my birthday when I was called for a casting of condiment commercial that’s specifically looking for a mom who knows how to cook.

Being the ever supportive husband that Kris is, he and Isaiah drove me that afternoon to the agency. After my VTR, the caster, who is by the way very amiable, asked me what I cook. I said “My husband loves my caldereta”  to which she asked another question if my husband knows how to cook also and if he’s with me. Apparently, they were looking for a real life couple so they took a VTR of Kris who was outside playing with Isaiah.

Weeks have passed. And just when we thought we never made it to that casting, the agency called saying we were shortlisted for the condiment commercial. I was excited but don’t know what to expect. In fact, I don’t feel like going anymore to the final casting because I was so stressed with the articles that I have to submit that same day. Thankfully, I managed to finish work.

When we arrived at the Production House in Makati, we met the other two talents who were paired as a couple. There was also the Director and the rest of the production crew. It felt intimidating. But after a good take called by the Director I felt like it was ‘that easy’. Shortly after that, we drove to meet with the client in Ortigas. Kris and I felt at ease with them. They were warm and very accomodating. Everything felt so surreal. I felt so good but I knew I have to guard my feelings so I was praying not to want the things that God doesn’t want for us.

After meeting with the client, we were told to go back to Makati to have a workshop with the Asst. Director. In a particular scene where I need to act all by myself I felt so awkward without Kris on my side. And I thought we’re not going to make it because of that. Much more when the Asst. Director asked all four of us, talents, if it’s okay for us to be paired with the opposite couple. There was a feeling struggling inside me that if it’s not Kris then I have to say no. I knew I’m going to have a long night waiting for the client’s decision. But one thought made me at peace. If getting those roles were part of God’s plan for us then no one and nothing can stop it.

So the next day came. My phone beeped. It was a message of congratulations from our casting agency. We made it and we will represent Lea and Perrins like how God planned it for us.

Series : The Big Transition – Part 1

This year has presented us a lot of opportunities. And it’s so easy to be carried away with our emotions and excitement. So Kris and I were on our knees praying for wisdom to make big decisions.

After weighing our options Kris filed his resignation from his job to help his parents with their family business. This opened another opportunity for him to take up an online school program on Digital Marketing in Ateneo. He’s definitely the happiest when he first attended school again and it was such a delight, as a wife, to see her husband so happy.

There are so many things happening in our family now but I can only share so much this time. But really, we, as a family, feel God’s hand working in our lives. Should we insist on doing things our way without obeying His will for us, I doubt if we will be as content as we are now. Thank you Lord for putting our family at the center of your perfect will for our lives.
