A Daddy After God’s Own Heart

A Daddy After God’s Own Heart

I read few father’s day post which makes me better understand what good fatherhood is. There were fathers who didn’t grow up having their fathers but ended up fathering their children really well. And there was this man who grew up beaten up by his dad but is very hopeful and excited to be a cool father to his future kids. There were also others whom I know personally that have absentee father but I witness how great they have become a father themselves.

It’s only telling me one thing. That it doesn’t matter how you grew up with or without your biological father. But if you have opened your heart for our heavenly Father then He will guide you and will give you direction in your life. Because in the first place, “His will for you is to prosper you and not to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11)”.

I’ve known Kris inside and out. I know his past and how he overcame the challenges of life caused by not having a good relationship with his dad. But in spite of it all, he welcomed Jesus in his heart and truly acknowledged the presence of God in his life. Only then he experienced freedom from his painful past. And only because of his relationship with his heavenly Father that he doesn’t feel anything for his own dad but love, after all.

A good, loving dad is now who he became after those tests. In his heart is the desire to bring out the best in his son and guide him to be the man who God wills him to be. And in his plans is to provide Isaiah the best along with all our other children to be.

Kristoffer Atienza, I admire your naturally kind big heart and I thank you for responding to His call. I can’t wait for that day that our children themselves will honor you for being such a great dad… a daddy after God’s own heart. I love you.

We passed by KFC for a quick dinner last night before going to our appointment. A lady crew got our orders.

Crew: Can I have your orders?

Kris: Give me bbq rods please.

Crew: What’s your drink Sir?

Kris: Ice tea with less ice.

Crew: How about you Ma’am?

Me: Give me snack box with wings.

Crew: What’s your drink Ma’am?

Me: Mountain dew please.

Crew: Spicy Ma’am?

Me: Alin yung mountain dew???

Kris laughed out loud as the crew looked at me smiling and said she’s referring to the chicken. Ahhh! I just want it clear because I definitely don’t want a spicy soda. Hahaha!

The phone rang and woke me up from my morning nap with Isaiah. The lady mentioned her name and the hotel she’s working for.

Me: How did you get my name?

Lady: It popped up in our screen as one of our VIPs po.

Ah really? I don’t know how your system works for you to generate sales lead but I’m sure that my name didn’t just pop up like it’s a spam.

Lady: When is your birthday Ma’am?

Me: January 7.

Lady: Ah tapos na po pala but on your next birthday we can give you a FREE… (I forgot what she said but she did mention Conway’s and Circles)

Me: Ahmmm…

Lady: Are you single Ma’am?

Me: No, I’m married.

Lady: When is your anniversary, Ma’am?

Me: August 17.

Lady: Malapit na pala Ma’am. We can give you po a FREE anniversary cake worth Php1, 500. Do you have kids, Ma’am?

Me: Yes.

Lady: How old na po?

Me: He’s one.

Lady: Ah okay Ma’am. You don’t have to pay for him na po when you dine in our restaurants. Actually hanggang 2 years old po, FREE yung mga kids.

Okay, I think that is supposed to be given.

Lady: Ms. Marilou, everything I mentioned po cost Php9, 000++ but we will only give it to you for Php7, 000++. Where do you want me to send po your package, home address or business address? Do you have business po ba?

Did I hear that right? Yes. She’s giving me options on the delivery address but she didn’t know if the latter ever exist. Plus, she said what? Only pay?!

Me: I’m sorry?

Lady: Where can I send po Ma’am your package?

Me: Ehemmm… didn’t you tell me that you will give me those things for free?

Lady: Yes Ma’am.

Me: And you want me to pay Php7, 000++ for something you’re giving me for free?

Long silence.

Me: I also came from selling and I know you’re doing your job but I think you have a poor marketing campaign. I hope you didn’t tell me that I will get those things for free when you want me to pay just a discounted price.

Lady: Ahh ganun po Ma’am?

Me: Yes. So I’ll pass this time.

Me: Hello?

Lady: Yes Ma’am.

Me: That would be all. Bye.

Lady: Bye Ma’am.

I hope I didn’t scare her because I think she’s new. I just hope that she learns from that experience and do better in her next phone call. I have my own share of flaws as well when I was new in work and one of the simplest yet the best thing I have learned is to communicate properly and effectively.

I sat in front of my computer staring blank at the monitor after I googled which I thought would interests me. I paused for a long moment then I realized I was overwhelmed with life’s challenges… and then I asked again – where is the road leading me to?

Sometimes, no matter how I thought I’m strong enough to face my daily battles in life, the enemy really has his own way of twisting my thoughts and telling me otherwise. Right now, I wish I’m with my support group to talk my heart out and share the fears that is slowly creeping in me… but yeah if the enemy has his way, my God has all the ways to take me out of miseries. I am not here for nothing but for one thing – to live for Him and only for Him.

Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. – Proverbs 4:6
